Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines sail into Antigua with Twofour Communications

For over a year, Twofour has been working with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines to maintain the video archive of its ships. New footage of Fred. Olsen’s fleet of cruise ships is being used to produce an up-to-date DVD allowing customers to see the range of cruises on offer.

Fred. Olsen is launching Balmoral, the fifth addition to its fleet in March, with an inaugural cruise in the Caribbean. The ship has just undergone a very extensive refit, including a substantial lengthening process and complete refurbishment, which is an extremely complex task.

Twofour Communications’ Producer/Director Jeremy Bates will be shooting aerials of Balmoral as she arrives into Antigua’s capital, St. Johns. Timing will be crucial for the crew to be in the helicopter and ready to film her arrival using the state of the art HD (high definition) cineflex aerials system which will be mounted on the nose of the helicopter. "The sophistication of the cineflex system is such that one can zoom into a head shot on board the ship from half a mile away and get rock-steady shots", enthuses Jeremy. "Virtually every shot is usable from a two hour flying session, which maximises value for money for the client."

The Twofour Communications crew will then join staff and sun-seekers for five days aboard to film interiors and exteriors of the ship, working with models, the stills cameraman and web team. They will also be filming using steadycam, allowing the cameraman to maximise the viewers' feel for the ship in the final edit and show Balmoral off in her full splendour.
