Twofour has joined forces with Plymouth based Formedia to offer a training package with a difference. They have invited a selection of business leaders to a Media Crisis Management event to give them a taste of what to expect should the worst happen.
The event, to be held at the 'back2business' Incident Recovery Centre at Plymouth's Airport Business Centre on Thursday 11th October, will provide more than just a few tips on interview skills. With news being a 24/7 business, 365 days a year, it is critical that firms are prepared to manage the pressures they will face in times of crisis.
In a packed two-hour event, the delegates will be put through their paces in real time as a 'crisis' develops. Dealing with internal and external communications, handling media enquiries and being interviewed 'live' on camera, the attendees will learn about managing their reputation under the glare of the media spotlight.
Twofour has a strong background in broadcast and journalism and has offered media training for over 20 years. Formedia is a marketing communications company with a specialist Public Relations arm employing a team of professionals including former journalists, strategic brand managers and marketing communications executives who help clients manage their reputations and promote their businesses through every medium in the marketing mix. www.formedia.co.uk
The strategic partnership between the two companies now offers a more sophisticated approach to advice on all media matters as Christopher Slade, one of the Twofour's founders and head of Live Events and Training, explains: "Twofour offers advice on policy, media strategy, intranet communications and other digital platforms for private companies and the Public Sector throughout the UK and Europe. The alliance with Formedia allows us to provide a comprehensive package providing intelligent crisis management, which is about so much more than just being good on camera."
Joining Christopher Slade to lecture at the event is Formedia Director Stuart Elford. He spent several years as spokesperson for the Devon and Cornwall Police, managing media crisis on a daily basis. He now heads up the PR team at Formedia, which is based at Tamar Science Park.
Stuart Elford said: "People in business still believe disaster won't happen to them. However, the recent bad weather, the Boscastle floods and the tragic Newquay hotel fire are demonstrative of how crisis can occur. With over 70,000 lightning strikes in the UK alone every year, IT viruses, disease and food contamination scares, and the level of terrorist threat, businesses should believe that incidents can and will happen. This fun and interactive free taster-session will give business leaders an insight into how to plan for and survive such a crisis and come out with their companies, and their reputations, intact."
