Thank you for taking the time to log onto the demonstration of How to be a Governor, the new e-learning resource for school governors. This exciting project has been developed with Cornwall Education Development Service, and the first two modules have been written and presented by governance expert, Judy Burgess. The aim is to complement face-to-face training with online, interactive and moderated e-learning.

This site is a demo to give you a taster of what How to be a Governor consists of, and how it works. The areas that are 'live' for you to view now are: Module 1, Module 2 on the homepage as well as various tasks and examples in the menu on the left hand side, explained below. The rest of the functionality is indicated in the menus, but not available to access on this demo.

Please take your time to watch the short video content, supported by slides within the 'Critical friend' and 'Governor visits' modules. Using the white arrow on the left hand side of the screen will enable you to open up the menu where a range of videos, tasks and activities are accessible (only the topics in dark blue are available on the demo); such as an example head teacher report, and interactive activities to test such topics as "are you on the right track with the evaluation progress of your school". The workshop area gives you an example of some of the topic areas that were explored by real governors during the pilot of the site.

We hope you find this demo an interesting insight into the project. We would love to speak to you about how this initiative could be tailored to work for your governors.
