mobile - The Ashes Down Under

Mobile

From mobisodes on 3G phones to training content on PSPs and IPODs, there are more and more options for reaching consumers via their mobile devices, Twofour is in the forefront of this revolution. It has leading edge experience of both the content options and the technology as well as strong contacts with the mobile networks.

Case study: Ashes Down Under

Twofour teamed up with Player One Sports for Ashes Down Under, the world's first interactive cricket mobishow, available on multiple platforms - on mobile from Orange, 3, O2 and T-Mobile in the UK, and Vodafone in Australia; and online via AOL and Orange broadband. The 17 weekly 3-minute shows were hosted by TV presenter Mark Durden-Smith, with regular features from Michael Vaughan and Freddie Flintoff. The shows also featured two animated characters - Ozzy & Pom - and author and journalist Simon Briggs, who together explained that most sacred of Ashes traditions: the art of sledging.

The main challenge was to turn around each weekly programme and keep it current to the action. This required a rigorous editing, encoding and delivery schedule, made even more demanding by the need for creating over 20 different files of varying lengths and formats each week to satisfy the technical requirements of the carriers. Presenter links and regular features are pre-recorded while crews on location sent up-to-date content from around the grounds via FTP. The weekly programmes were made available simultaneously across all platforms, maximising the value of cross-platform delivery.

Twofour is currently working on more cricket mobishows with Player One Sports.
